Proposed Bylaws Changes

DMAQG Bylaws and Standing Rules Changes

The board has approved several revisions to the Guild Bylaws and Standing Rules.  The revised bylaws are now posted above for review by our members.  If you have any comments, email them to info@dmaqg.org within 30 days.  The board will vote on final approval of the bylaws after this review period.  

Significant changes to the bylaws include:

• Deleted references to the Charity Auction Committee.
• Recognize that we no longer print the newsletters or member list; emails or the website are used.
• Clarified the duties and oversight responsibilities for some of the board positions, and Standing and Special Committee positions.
• Separated the Articles for the Standing Committees and the Special Committees.
• Added the Facility Manager and Parliamentarian positions to the list of Standing Committees.
• Added the Sew Bee It, Mall in the Hall, Leadership, and Library Oversight Committees to the Special Committees Article.
• Clarified which Special Committee Chair(s) require approval by the board.
• Deleted the statement requiring an outside professional to annually review our financial statements and procedures.
• Clarified who is authorized to sign contracts on behalf of the guild.
• Clarified who is authorized to sign checks and make banking transactions.

Significant changes to the Standing Rules of the guild include:

• Registration forms for workshops and retreats are now available on the website.
• Added a new section for the Sew Bee It Socials.
• Deleted the statement that the Social Media Manager will act as the Newsletter Editor.
• Added a new section for Social Media.
• Library section was rewritten.
