Block Lotto

A block lotto is a new program implemented in 2023. The idea is that everyone makes as many blocks as they want to, following the guidelines for that lotto. Then a raffle is held and the winner receives all the blocks! Each block you submit one entry into the raffle. We will hold several throughout the year. Watch this page for the details of each lotto.

2025 Block Lotto

The due date for returned blocks is the January 28, 2025 meeting.

A big thank you to Community Giving for partnering with this Block Lotto to supply fabric to make these blocks coordinate well. Pick up your teal squares at the December tea. For each block, you will receive 3 teal fabric squares to make the HST units.

Fabric Requirements:

  • White: 3 squares 5″; 6 squares 2 ½”
  • Teal: 3 squares 5″
  • Colored Prints of your choice (avoid brights & pastels): 6 squares 2 ½“

Instructions:
Construct HST using white and teal 5” squares, trim to 4 ½”. Iron seams open.
See link:
Make 4-patches by pairing white 2 ½” squares with colored print 2 ½” squares.
Assemble and sew the 4 ½” units as shown in the diagram. Iron units in top and bottom rows to the right and units in middle row to the left. When the block is completely assembled, iron row seams up. Trim final block to 12 ½” square.
