August 23, 2016 Annual Charity Auction at 5:00 PM – in place of our regular guild meetings
2016 Charities include Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and DMAQG’s Community Giving/Education Outreach efforts
There are two parts to the Charity Auction:
- Starting at 5:00 – Mall-in-the-Hall – in the Fellowship area (Mall-in-the-Hall finishes up after the Live Auction with discounts on everything)
- Starting at 6:00 – Live Auction in the Sanctuary
You can participate in a couple of ways:
- Bring things to donate (bring to the church between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.)
- Be a volunteer (see president or vice president for details)
- Come as a shopper (check or cash only)
- Write your check directly to one of the outside charities
- All cash received in Mall-in-the-Hall will go to our Community Giving/Education Outreach (buying batting for the charity quilts and State Fair quilts)
Types of donation:
- Tools, notions, patterns, books, kits, fabric, sewing supplies
- Pick a theme for “basket” (gardening, entertaining, pets, themed fabric, cooking/food,
for example) - Donate a quilt for the live auction
- Items worth less than $50 will go into Mall-In-The-Hall
- Items worth more than $50 will go into the Live Auction
- Items for Live Auction need 2 cards describing the contents, donor and estimated
value - Committee members may move things around if needed
Snack area for waiting after you’ve dropped something off and before the events begin
- Open from 3:00 until 5:00 PM
- Back area of the Fellowship room
- Donations accepted for treats/beverages
In 2013, we raised about $13,500; In 2014, we raised about $14,700; and in 2015, we raised
over $18,000. Bar is set high for 2016 – let’s see what we can do!!!
