July Program & Workshops
Ruth Powers

Our featured quilt teacher is July is Ruth Powers from Carbondale, Kansas. Ruth began quilting in 1989 and started her quilt pattern company Innovations in 1994. She especially enjoys intricately pieced pictorial quilts, often inspired by nature. Ruth's quilts have won awards in numerous national quilts shows and are also found in private collections from coast to coast. Ruth's website is www.ruthpowersartquilts.com

Ruth's 1 PM lecture on July 28 will be 'Creativity - Where Do the Ideas Come From?'  At 7 PM, Ruth's lecture will be 'Dare To Be Different'.

Introduction to Picture Piecing
Wednesday, July 29, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

If you have always wanted to try picture piecing but don't know where to start, this workshop will introduce you to the process in a fun and easy way using a prepared pattern and freezer paper templates. You will be well on your way to completing your pieced coneflower wall hanging by the end of the workshop.

Cost: $50 registration fee plus $8.50 for the pattern. The pattern will need to be purchased from the program chairs (Martha or Kathy) before the workshop as there is one step of 'homework' to be done with the pattern prior to coming to the workshop.

New Leaves/ Third Weekend

Thursday, July 30, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

You will choose either the New Leaves or Third Weekend pattern for the workshop. These very popular patterns are partially paper foundation pieced and the resulting quilts are spectacular! There are lots of pieces, but the piecing is not difficult. Even beginners who enjoy a challenge can do this!

Cost: $50 registration fee plus $7 for the pattern. The pattern can be purchased from the program chairs prior to the July workshop or from Ruth at the July lectures or workshop.
