We are Building Quilts to Make Friends
What fun! We came to the February guild meeting with our
containers full of projects and you all just snatched them up and we
ended with our containers empty of kits and what is even more exciting
is that we filled our empty containers up with your finished projects.
donated 24 pillowcases, 60 placemats, 17 finished twin/lap size quilts,
5 baby quilts, and 4 clothing protectors. You also completed 13 pieced
twin tops, 1 baby pieced top, and quilted 2 tops ready for binding.
checked-out 16 pillow case kits, 17 top kits to piece, 3 kits to quilt
and 2 kits to bind. We also collected 2 bags, 2 boxes for the Des Moines
Schools, tab tops, and 2 large bags of assorted toiletries.

Our Community Giving focus this year is on our Habitat for Humanity lap
quilts. These quilts are given to the home owners when they take
possession of the keys. The quilts are a memento for a job
accomplished. See our website
for another block pattern for you to consider using in a charity quilt. - Sandy Lanning and Terry Holt, Community Giving Chairs
